The Common WordPress Mistakes to Avoid

WordPress is without a doubt the leading platforms out there, but it can be extremely easy to make mistakes that can come back to haunt you. Anyone can make a mistake, which is how you get experience — through mistakes and failures. However, if you have the chance to avoid making basic errors you should take it with both hands. There are some common WordPress mistakes that you should avoid, and these include the following:

1.      Not Creating a WordPress Backup

There are lots of people that don’t create backups for WordPress and that comes back to haunt them, when they realize they don’t have any backup to rescue them. The first thing you should do when using WordPress is create automatic backups, so that you have something to fall back on if something goes horribly wrong for you.

2.      Using a Default Favicon

Most beginners don’t know how to use Favicons. These are the icons that show next to the page title. If you ignore them, and don’t choose one, you will be given a default favicon, which is like the identity card of your website. That is why you should use an original favicon instead of a default one.

3.      Too Many Categories

Users on WordPress can easily create lots of different categories, but you should be careful in not going overboard and creating too many categories. This will not only confuse visitors to your website, but the layout will turn out to be boring, because your website will not have a proper structure.

4.      Ignoring SEO Settings

It can be easy to ignore the SEO settings when installing WordPress. You shouldn’t make this mistake, because if you don’t select the SEO settings, the search engine bots won’t index your website, and that will affect your website rankings.
